What’s good: For the price of an hour down the pub with your dad, plus a packet of dry roasted nuts, you can turn any bike with a pillion seat into a reasonably comfortable and safe passenger carrier.
The concept is mind-bogglingly simple: a sturdy textile strap is fixed securely and comfortably around the rider’s waist.
On this strap are two rubberised handles, easily big enough for the thickest of gloved hands to fit inside, which your passenger grabs on to.
No more panicking for grip on the bike’s grabrail under acceleration; noticeably fewer helmet collisions when changing gear, and no pillion ending up on the rider’s seat under hard braking.
Perfect for modern sports 600s, which have just a hard-to-grip strap across the front of the pillion ‘seat’.
What’s not: For this money I’ve no arguments. Every motorcyclist should own one.
If I had to name one issue, it’s a bit bulky to stash it in the pocket of your leathers when not in use. However, it will fit under the seat of a sports bike.
Verdict: 5/5
