1.  Security

None of our staff at John Carr Motorcycles are able to view any personal card details. Transactions are processed by Protx VSP Systems and encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. Similarly, staff there cannot view your card number.  No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to our servers from Protx are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You can be completely secure in the knowledge that nothing you pass to us can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.
Protx uses the same 256-bit encryption standards used by the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract.
Any cardholder information sent to the banks is by private link, completely separate from the Internet and any authorisation message coming back is secure and cannot be tampered with.
We comply with the Data Protection Act to protect your privacy and we never pass on any information about you for any purpose to third parties.

2.  Payment, Charging and Cancellations Policy

We accept all major credit cards, including American Express.  We charge you at the point of order, however, if something is not in stock within our delivery times, or needs to be back ordered we will contact you, to make sure you still want to go ahead with the purchase.

You can cancel your order at any point during the online shopping process, but once you have confirmed your purchase you have committed to buy that article from us.  At our discretion, for common items, we can cancel a confirmed order if you phone us, backed up by e-mail at any time before we post the order.  If the item is in stock, this will be same or next day, and we keep over 10,000 items in stock, so you will need to be quick.  After that please refer to our exchanges and returns policies below.

4.  Exchanges and Returns Policy

Your statutory rights mean that the goods that we supply must be fit for purpose, match the description given and be of satisfactory quality.  This is not affected by our policy below.

Guarantees
Where goods are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty you can return them to us within the appropriate timeframe and we will replace them.  The following exclusions apply:
·         Damage other than manufacturing defect, e.g. accidental damage, customer misuse, modifications or attempted inexpert repair
·         Damage caused by returning product in inadequate packaging
Exchanges
You can exchange for a different colour, size or brand by e-mailing us, we will despatch the new item once the old item has been received in good condition.  There is no charge for this; you need only pay the postage costs.  The same conditions of return apply as listed in “Returns” below.
Returns
Returns will be accepted and refunded if the item is faulty due to a manufacturing error.
·         You have 7 working days from receipt of goods to make a return.
·         Items must be returned unused, in original condition, with all tags attached
·         Items returned must be properly protected, preferably with the packaging we used to send it to you
·         Please take your parcel to the nearest Post Office - we can’t accept liability for items lost, so we recommend you send your parcel recorded delivery, as ‘posting is not proof of receipt’.  Post to the address on the invoice, also listed as our registered address in these terms and conditions.
·         It is your responsibility to pay for the return postage, however, if the item is faulty we will refund the postage once the item has been checked.
·         We will refund your payment to the original card details providing the item is in good condition, no later than 20 working days of our receipt of the item.
·         Helmets - The industry standard is that helmets are non-refundable, as they are safety devices and used items should not be re-sold. However, if a helmet has no sign whatsoever of usage, i.e. boxed, tags still on, label on visor, then we will refund. If there are signs of use then it is deemed that the customer has accepted the helmet and the helmet will be returned and the customer charged for return postage. This does not affect your Statutory Rights or our replacement of a faulty helmet.
